This sampler is dated 1821 and is a linen weave with gold/tan colored thread. It measures 10 3/4" by 13 1/4". It has no stitch loss and no holes. It is in exceptional condition for its age. There is a little staining at the top right corner of the sampler. It has five wonderful divider lines and patterns with a border around the piece. The sampler has upper and lower case alphabets, numbers 1 - 16 and is signed Jane Matterson's work 1821. I can't say enough about the variety of divider lines in this piece. It is really very charming. The frame is almost a gold/tan color and blends with the color of the sampler nicely. It does have some scuffing and scratches but could be touched up if desired.
