Offered for Auction a two piece set of pre ban Ivory Needle case and matching needle Holder. I have been informed the two items are from the days of the Whaling ships of the 18th and 19th century and fall under the heading of original Scrimshaw. The items are in my family many years and I don;t know their provenance but for sure it is a hand carved set. The needle case has no metal just carved Ivory The second item has a tiny metal end that holds the needle for use much like a modern drill would go into the chuck. If any collector can shed more light on the two items I will post it with the listing, please email me.
