Various artefacts Asmat Sago Bowl Description : Carved wooden bowls are exclusive to the coastal and northwestern areas of Asmat (Iryan Jaya) and are used for sago and other food. In the old days, they were also used to serve the brain of the enemies to elders after a raid. This is a well used old bowl, with dark patina, a bird head on one end and some incisions on the two sides. It is offered with no reserve. Dimension : 59 cm Check the pics of the bowl, the last two images are from "the Asmat", showing bowls collected by M. Rockefeller during his 1961 trip.
