I am pleased to offer this remarkable one of a kind find. This piece was found at an estate sale in Buckingham, PA. It caught my eye right away and its rich and unique history only adds marvelous charm. Made of solid wood it has been hand painted perfectly in the most gorgeous shades of deep pumpkin orange, mustard yellow, and blue. Lots of great details including gills, polka dots and even strips. It hung in a general store along the Delaware River for over fifty years to advertise bait to folks looking to do some fishing. The word, "BAIT" has been written in bold yellow letters in the center and it certainly catches your attention. Not sure what kind of fish this is...perhaps a trout? He has the best facial features and looks like he is not to be messed with. Lots of fun! Certainly a fabulous example of American folk art at its best. Measures a generous 32 inches long and 17 inches wide. This is a museum quality collectors piece. Signed and dated, "1934" on the back. Would look marvelous among a collection of signs or display it independently over a antique hutch, mantle or just about anywhere else. Lots of possibilities! No damage of any kind which is also amazing. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thank you for looking.
